About Steve & Joan

Several years ago I jokingly named a small group of friends and fellow motorcycle riders "Friends of Steve". Well the name stuck and the original FOS was started. I even had some FOS pins made and gave them out to anyone who joined me for a ride. A few months later I met Joan. Since then a lot has changed, including FOS. That's why it's now FOSJ. Joan and I discovered a mutual enjoyment for camping and decided to purchase an RV as an experiment. That experiment went well and after 3 1/2 years we decided to move up from a 25' Class C to a DP. We also decided we wanted to try full-timing when we retired. So here we are living in our MH fulltime. We left Florida March 2012 headed for Oregon where we started our first workamping job at Mt Hood National Forest. We completed that job in October and headed south towards Sparks Nevada where we worked a short stint at Amazon. In January 2013 we volunteered at Lake Mead National Recreation Area outside of Las Vegas. And in April we moved to Nathrop, Colorado where we spent the summer working at Chalk Creek Campground. In September we headed back to Lake Mead and volunteered there until April 2014 when we reported to Crazy Horse Memorial just outside of Custer, SD where we worked through September of 2014 before spending the winter in Lake Mead. Spring 2015 found us traveling and working throughout Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming as we inventoried BLM back country roads throughout these areas. May 2016 we returned to Crazy Horse for several months before making the cross country trip back to Florida to spend the winter with family and friends. In the summer of 2017 we headed to New Hampshire to work in the White Mountain National Forest. 2018 will find us at Sullys Hill National Game Preserve near Devil's Lake, ND.
